Campbell claims second PDC European Challenge Tour title with Event Five victory over Van der Wal

Matt Campbell has claimed his second PDC European Challenge Tour title of the weekend in seeing off Jitse van der Wal in the final of Event Five.

It was a 5-4 victory for the Canadian who saw off Chris Landman with a 105 average 5-1 before edging past Rowby-John Rodriguez 5-4 in the semi's ahead of seeing off the Dutchman in the final.

He now sits atop of the Order of Merit ahead of Rodriguez, Steven Noster, Kevin Doets and Richard Veenstra way ahead on £4250 compared to £2,700 for the Austrian in second.

There is one final tournament taking place shortly before Associate Member European Tour qualifiers take place tomorrow alongside the start of the Super Series.

Due to travel restrictions still in place due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Challenge Tour has been split this year into a separate circuit for both British and European players.

The winners of both tours will be eligible to participate in the upcoming World Darts Championship and will receive a PDC Tour Card for 2022 and 2023.

The highest-ranking players on the PDC Challenge Tour Order of Merit qualify for the reserve spots at the Players Championship tournaments.
