"It'd be nice to keep my Tour Card, then hand it back instead of losing it" - Steve Beaton on his aims for final professional season

Steve Beaton is in his final year on the PDC Pro Tour. The 59-year-old Englishman hopes to conclude his professional career at the World Darts Championship.

Beaton indicated at the Alexandra Palace at the end of 2023, that he will quit the PDC at the conclusion of this season. "I'm looking forward to a bit of a change," Beaton tells Online Darts from the World Seniors Darts Championship, with 'The Bronzed Adonis' hoping to continue his career in the coming year on the WSDT. "I am getting older you know, I've got to take a step back and I think this is the perfect opportunity for me."

Beaton has another good reason for playing fewer tournaments. "My wife has been a great support for me and if it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have done the last thirty years. She wants to have a bit more of a life together. I'm away for half the year, even more than that sometimes so it'll be nice to plan a holiday and chill out a little bit."

'The Bronzed Adonis' is currently 50th in the world rankings. "I'd like to be in the World Darts Championship again. That would be 34th on the trot so that's one thing I would love to qualify for and it'd be nice to keep my Tour Card then hand it back instead of losing it. They're my two main aims for this year."
