Michael van Gerwen has crowned himself the winner of the Emsland Darts Gala. The 34-year-old Dutchman defeated four well-known names during the exhibition tournament in Lingen, Germany.
Many of the world's top players play exhibition events during this period. Not primarily for some nice extra pocket money, but also to keep up the match rhythm ahead of the World Darts Championship.
In addition to Van Gerwen, Wayne Mardle, Fallon Sherrock, Devon Petersen, Jonny Clayton, Joe Cullen and Gerwyn Price were also part of the event. 'Mighty Mike' settled with Mardle, Clayton and Cullen to qualify for the final. Then Van Gerwen was too strong for rival Price in the final match.
