PDC Order of Merit: Michael Smith up to second as Michael van Gerwen drops down in latest update

Michael Smith has risen to second in the world in the latest Order of Merit update. 'Bullyboy' managed to win the ninth Players Championship tournament of the season last Monday.

Smith now has an 8,750-pound lead over Michael van Gerwen, who drops to third. Number one Luke Humphries is still almost half a million pounds above that however, and has nothing to fear from Smith and Van Gerwen for the time being.

Jonny Clayton has returned to the top-10 of the world rankings. That was at the expense of Damon Heta, who has dropped down to 11th place. Raymond van Barneveld also gained one spot. He took over the 29th spot from Jose de Sousa. Gian van Veen is getting closer to a debut in the top-32 of the world rankings. He moved up three spots to 34th.

The biggest riser of the week, however, is Jeffrey de Graaf, who was in the final of Players Championship 10 on Tuesday. He moved up no less than 49 spots in the world rankings and is now 91st, just behind compatriots Berry van Peer (89th) and Danny van Trijp (90th).
