"The hard work starts now, so dedication is the key" - Chris Dobey back in the winners circle with Players Championship 7 success

Chris Dobey managed to take the title at the seventh Players Championship tournament of the season on Monday. For "Hollywood," it was his first ranking title since 2021.

''I gave myself one task this year, which was to improve my floor game,'' Dobey said afterwards. The Bedlington-based darter then concluded that he has succeeded in his mission for now.

''I think I’ve done that so far [this year]. I’m playing well,'' he continued. ''I’m going into games feeling confident, and if you’re confident, you can go a long way..''

Dobey played his lesser match in the first round against Vincent van der Voort, winning 6-1 despite an average of 88. He then beat Mike de Decker (6-5), Mickey Mansell (6-1), Kim Huybrechts (6-3), Daryl Gurney (6-4), Ross Smith (7-3) and Josh Rock (8-4).

''I’ve just plodded on today. The first game against Vincent was a struggle, but after that I played consistently well, and I’m delighted to come out the winner. I finally broke into the top 16 after the World Championship and the aim is to stay there now. The hard work starts now, so dedication is the key.”
