THROWBACK VIDEO: Van Gerwen throws seventeen perfect darts in a row during World Championship

The 29th edition of the PDC World Darts Championship starts on December 15. Ahead of the start of this tournament, Dartsnews looks back on some beautiful and remarkable events in the history of this event.

Michael van Gerwen provided one of the most beautiful moments ever at the PDC World Darts Championship on December 30 in 2012. The Dutchman almost hit back-to-back nine-darters.

The three-time world champion threw a nine-darter in the fifth set and then started the next leg with two 180's. Van Gerwen then also threw his sixteenth and seventeenth perfect dart in a row, but failed on the double 12 to make history.

In 2017 Van Gerwen managed to produce two nine-dart finishes in one match. This was during a Pro Tour tournament in Wigan.
