Van den Bergh not giving up hope of reaching Premier League Darts play-offs: "There's no reason why I couldn't win two nights"

Dimitri van den Bergh managed to pick up a first victory in five weeks on Thursday evening during the visit of the Premier League Darts to the Dutch port city of Rotterdam.

The Belgian defeated Peter Wright in his quarter-final tie but was defeated in a semi-final battle by the eventual weekly winner Nathan Aspinall.

"That victory against Wright was an important one," Van den Bergh told the Belgian press afterwards. “I played a good tournament last Sunday reaching a semi-final beating some people in form and now I'm winning a game here in the Premier League. That is good. Did I want more? Absolutey. I am disappointed because my last two darts at the doubles were way off. That's sour, but as always I take the positive with me."

With the latter, Van den Bergh was referring to his position in the Premier League Darts. He passed Chris Dobey and is now in sixth place. The gap to fourth place, which is now in the hands of Jonny Clayton, can be called a considerable difference with eight points.

'The Dreammaker' still has four weeks to make up for that deficit. The always positive Van den Bergh maintains hope of achieving a place in the last four.

“I have risen a spot in the ranking and there are still four nights to go. So the playoffs are still possible. There's no reason why I couldn't win two nights. That is why I was chosen and I am not afraid of my opponents. I've beaten them all before."
