Van Gerwen gives insight into relationship with 'kebab-boy' Littler: ''I'm twice that boy's age''

Michael van Gerwen and Luke Littler might meet Thursday night on the stage of the Premier League Darts in Rotterdam, but on Wednesday the two players already met at the press day in Ahoy Rotterdam.

Littler was first to address the press before Van Gerwen came to address them. They met in the corridor of the immense event building. ''Hey there, kebab-boy,'' the Dutchman called out to the English teenage sensation.

Speaking to the press, Van Gerwen reveals that ''kebab-boy'' is the nickname he has given Littler. ''We are always egging each other on, and that's what I always call him,'' writes De Telegraaf.

Van Gerwen was then asked if Littler already has a nickname for him, too. ''I don't know, but he doesn't dare say it yet, I think. I'm twice that boy's age, right?''

Still, the three-time world champion thinks he has a good rapport with the 17-year-old teenage sensation from England. ''We just have a good relationship, but real conversations we haven't had. I sometimes ask him something, it's always darts-related. So should I start talking politics with a 17-year-old guy? If you ask him about Manchester United, he knows everything. That's a generation gap,'' Van Gerwen said.
