Jenkins beats Scholten in straight sets to set up tie with Ashton

Terry Jenkins moved into the second round at the World Seniors Darts Championship in Purfleet after seeing off Roland Scholten (3-0).

The match was a meeting between two players who faced each other during the 2007 Premier League Darts. Scholten's glory days were already over with a UK Open title in 2004 and finals at the World Grand Prix in 2001 and the Premier League in 2006. Jenkins made his second major final at that Premier League in 2007. The Raging Bull eventually appeared in nine major finals, but lost them all.

Against Scholten, the Englishman won seven of the first eight legs, before Scholten took a 15-darter lead in the third set. However, the Dutchman had no chances to win the set. With a 108 finish and a 16-darter, the third set went to Jenkins as well, who is now the opponent of Lisa Ashton in the last sixteen.
