Gary Anderson is set to defend his spot at the top of the World Series Order of Merit.
The former World Champion sits 4 points above reigning Champion of the World Michael van Gerwen, and should he win the title in Germany, will definitely be seeded 1st at the finals.
Anderson will have to overcome a partisan crowd in the first round if he is to progress. He faces young German Max Hopp, a player who is idolised by the German crowds, and the former world youth champion will be raring to go.
Anderson acknowledged Max’s presence on home soil speaking to pdc.tv “The atmosphere is always great in Germany and the fans love the darts, and this will be great experience for the German players too. Max has got loads of talent so I’ll have a tough match on Friday.”
The action gets underway on Friday evening and will be shown live on ITV4 in the UK.
