More than 100 players will compete for spots at the first two European Tour events of the year.

The 16 seeds at European Tour 1 and 2 will enter in the second round. Before that, 32 qualifiers will go head-to-head. Local qualifiers will make up 14 of the 48-strong field. The other 18 places will be filled by successful players from the UK qualifiers. Two tournaments will see their line-ups completed in Barnsley on February 16. The European Darts Open takes place in Leverkusen from March 23-25. That is followed by the German Darts Grand Prix in Munich, which will be played from March 31-April 2.

Among the UK qualifying hopefuls is five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld. After changing management, Barney committed to making more attempts to enter European Tour events. True to form, the Dutchman will be making an appearance in Barnsley. Adrian Lewis and James Wade also feature in a strong field. Prominent among the absentees is Corey Cadby, who won his first Pro Tour title at UK Open Qualifying 5.
