2017 PDC revelation Rob Cross has made his first Major Final.
The former electrician from Hastings brushed aside Grand Prix Champion Daryl Gurney to set up a clash with Michael van Gerwen in Hasselt.
Cross began the year on £0 ranking money, picking up his tour card as the number 1 player from the challenge tour last year. Since then he has picked up 4 pro tour titles and numerous Euro tour quarter finals and beyond. Now he has a chance to add a Major title to his list of achievements in this remarkable debut season.
Cross repeated Gurneys quarter-final feat, opening up a 5-0 lead at the first interval. Gurneys first attempt at a double only came in leg 4!
Cross continued his domination all the way until leg 8. Gurney finally getting on the board with a double 4, although that was after 3 previous misses. The Northern Irishman never really settled in this one, nor did he threaten much of a comeback.
Even after taking 2 consecutive legs to get to 8-3 Cross was always in control.
The world number 29 before this event could push on to secure a top 16 spot at Ally Pally later this year. He reeled off the final 3 legs to end any hope of a miraculous comeback from Superchin.
Michael van Gerwen got the better of Cross in the final European tour event final before the finals event. Can Voltage get some revenge and claim his first TV title?
