Chris Dobey is confident ahead of the PDC World Championship and believes he can win it while bettering his performance from last year.

Dobey said in an interview with Metro that there’s no point playing if you don’t believe you can come out on top. He added that for him it’s all about believing his own ability and that there are multiple players who are in the field who can spring surprises when the action starts on Friday.

‘I’m there to win it, everybody is,’ Dobey told Metro.co.uk.

‘I want to play like I did last year, I lost out to Gary [Anderson] but I’ll be there to better last year’s performance.

‘Obviously it’s going to be tough but I’ll be prepared right for it.’

‘It’s the big one at the end of the year, everybody will be up for it. There’s no reason why myself and a few others can’t cause a few upsets,’ added Dobey.

‘There are four or five players playing brilliant darts at the minute and who’s to know? Anybody that’s in it can win it. You’ve got to believe in your own ability, there’s no point going if you don’t believe you can win it.’
