In 2018, 22 Players Championship events will be played. By playing these tournaments players can qualify for the big TV tournaments through the Pro Tour ranking.
To qualify for the Players Championship Finals, this is the only route you can take. Through the Players Championship tournaments it is also possible to get qualification for the World Championship, the World Matchplay and the World Grand Prix.
The 128 Tour Card holders of the PDC participate in these floor tournaments. When one or more players pull out, these places are filled with the highest ranked players on the Challenge Tour.
The Pro Tour circuit is finished behind the scenes. However, two stream boards are available per tournament. All matches are played according to the ‘best of 11 legs’ format. The top-32 of the Pro Tour Order or Merit is given a protected status and means they can not meet each other in the first two rounds.
