Gary Anderson won his 41st PDC title yesterday against Jeffrey de Zwaan in Wigan, the 4th UK Open Qualifier. He defeated him 6-2 in the final but was still suffering with his back.
Anderson winning though confirms that he will be in the field at the UK Open and is currently 3rd in the Order of Merit. De Zwaan joins other finalists (Lerchbacher, Webster) in the top 10 and will be in the 3rd round at Minehead.
Further down the field the final remaining places are still up for grabs and some were confirmed yesterday. John Part for example will make his first appearance at a PDC major since 2015 with a good run yesterday.
Jason Lowe’s semi-final appearance means he will enter at the 3rd round stage as one of the seeds. There is only 2 more chances to make it to Minehead and with some bad runs the likes of Ronny Huybrechts, Jamie Caven and Max Hopp could all miss out.
