The semi-final line-up has been confirmed at Players Championship 22 and it is one that would not have been expected at the start of the day as it will see Cody Harris take on Brendan Dolan and Mensur Suljovic face off against Jermaine Wattimena.

Harris is of course not a Tour Card holder and is into only his second event as a reserve through the Challenge Tour; but showed his class to edge past Krzysztof Ratajski. Ratajski of course has been one of the stand-outs of the past two days winning yesterday and showing that form again today; but it is Code Star who is through.

He will face Dolan who came through a brilliant battle with Glen Durrant in a 6-5 win in a deciding leg. ‘Duzza’ missed match darts and Dolan produced the goods hitting double 16 last dart in hand in a brilliant clutch finish to move through to his first semi-final since May 2018.

In the second semi-final it will see Jermaine Wattimena handed another chance to win a maiden PDC title as he takes on Mensur Suljovic. ‘Machine Gun’ played brilliantly during a 6-2 win over Steve Beaton and this was highlighted by the Dutchman missing double 12 for a nine-dart finish.

Suljovic on the other hand came through a tough assignment beating Ian White in a last-leg decider. ‘Diamond’ is of course number one seed but ‘The Gentle’ produced the goods and battled back to see off White and give himself a chance of winning a first Players Championship title in some time. It all means a thrilling conclusion to proceedings in Hildesheim.
