Mervyn King is the first quarter-finalist at the World Grand Prix in Dublin. The former Lakeside-finalist defeated James Wade 3-1 in sets.
King fought back from one set behind as Wade claimed the first set (3-1). But the Norfolk ace then emerged as reborn from the interruption. A 12-dart leg helped him to win the second set.
The world number 21 continued his resurgence as he opened the third set with the first 10-dart leg of the tournament. He also hit a 15-darter to win the third set in the fourth leg. Wade was not able to response as he missed fourteen chances to open the legs in the fourth set. King then produced a 95 finish and a 15-dart leg to claim the fourth set and the match.
