There were many big winners at the UK Open qualifiers in Wigan. Mark Webster was not one of them.
Former Lakeside champion Webster was among a clutch of top players who failed to make the UK Order of Merit’s top 96. The Spider’s failings have cost him more than a trip to Minehead. PDC Order of Merit earnings were also affected. According to statistician Erik Middelkoop, the Welsh ace will have £10,000 less to defend on the Order of Merit. Mensur Suljovic misses out on £5,000 of his total. The world number six failed to attend any of the six UK Open qualifiers.
Jamie Caven and Joe Murnan both have £3,000 less to defend. With the pair 45th and 53rd in the Order of Merit respectively, their Tour Card defence could be heavily affected. Brendan Dolan, Robbie Green, Josh Payne and Jeffrey de Graaf all suffered in Wigan. Green missed out on the UK Open despite throwing a nine-darter in qualifying.
