Max Hopp continued on the first day with a surprising smashing of Adrian Lewis. ‘The Maximiser’ who has had a poor year was afforded another wildcard for this event and justified it winning 6-2 in Glasgow in what can be seen as potentially a season-defining win for the young German and he will play Michael van Gerwen tomorrow.
Following that Dimitri van den Bergh smashed Michael Smith with the performance of the night so far. He averaged 100 in a crushing 6-1 victory for the young Belgian who moves through to face Raymond van Barneveld tomorrow evening and if he plays like he did tonight, Barney could be in trouble.
