The action continues at the BDO World Trophy with four semi-finalists confirmed at the King George’s Hall in Blackburn.
First being Lorraine Winstanley who eased past Laura Turner with a 75.15 average. The Buxton ace continues the form she showed last night against Kirsty Hutchinson but didn’t need as long to take out Turner who has been in great form this year herself.
Following that Lisa Ashton also booked her place in the semi-finals. ‘The Lancashire Rose’ edged past Casey Gallagher in a 4-2 victory.
Gallagher did break her throw in the opening leg of the match but was seen off by Ashton in the end who hit an 86 average and will face either Aileen de Graaf or Mikuru Suzuki later.
In the men’s, a big shock occurred and one nearly happened. Mark McGrath continues his ground breaking run at the BDO World Trophy by defeating tournament favourite, Wesley Harms.
Harms was ran close yesterday by Andy Hamilton but this time, ‘The Cowboy’ took his chances beating ‘Sparky’ 6-5 with six 180’s and a 90.33 average en route. Could he go all the way?
Joe Chaney nearly continued his landmark weekend as well running Jim Williams close having mounted a fightback but it was ‘The Quiff’ who continues his form to reach the semi-finals with a 90.95 average.
