We have our final four winners in the first round in Zwolle with Josh Payne defeating recent Euro Tour winner Jonny Clayton, Krzysztof Ratajski defeating Ricky Evans, Jan Dekker delighting the home crowd in defeating Adrian Lewis and finally Cristo Reyes defeating the in form James Wade.
The Gravesend native defeated Clayton in a superb encounter. He battled down from 4-2 down to defeat ‘The Ferret’ who had match darts against Payne. It is the World Youth Championship finalist who will face Mensur Suljovic tomorrow.
Ratajski completed an impressive victory over Ricky Evans with a 89 average and 42% on the doubles. It is a meeting with the out of form Jelle Klaasen for the Polish Eagle tomorrow.
Following that, Jan Dekker delighted the Dutch crowd by slaying Adrian Lewis. It was a 6-4 win for the former Mr Coat who averaged exactly 10 more than the former 2x World Champion. He will face Simon Whitlock tomorrow with the Dutchman hoping to get revenge after being smashed last time.
Finally, Cristo Reyes sent James Wade packing in a really impressive performance. A 98 average in a 6-3 victory may give Daryl Gurney some potential problems tomorrow and Wade bowing out could give an opportunity for a good run.
