Fallon Sherrock’s Journey Since her Historic 2019

In December 2019, Fallon Sherrock made sporting headlines around the world, cementing herself as not only a must-watch competitor but also a history-maker in the sport of darts. A trailblazer for women, Sherrock became the first female to defeat a male in the PDC World Championships, which have been in existence since 1994.

Exploding into the upper echelons of darts, she defeated Ted Evetts 3-2 in the opening round, Mensur Suljović 3-1 in the next round, but then fell to Chris Dobey in the third round. The success didn’t finish there, though, with Sherrock featuring as a ‘Challenger’ in the Premier League, performing the best of the bunch at the time of her match with Glen Durrant, which ended 6-6.

Returning to fifth in the WDF Rankings

After a hugely successful 2019, 2020 was filled with highs and lows for the ‘Queen of the Palace.’ She decided to withdraw from the BDO World Darts Championship, per Live Darts, and didn’t get a tour card from the 2020 PDC Q School, as well as bowing out of the 2020 UK Open in her debut match.

The year was salvaged, however, by her performance as a ‘Challenger’ in the Premier League, along with triumphs in a few Opens. In mid-February, Sherrock finished second in the Scottish Open to get 111 rankings points, accumulating a further 180 from the Isle of Man Open and Masters – both of which she won. In the 4 August updated rankings, Sherrock sat one point behind fourth-placed Beau Greaves.

Getting back into the mix in 2021

Sherrock has done tremendously to breakthrough in the mixed scene, and continues to compete with men in tournaments alongside the major women’s competitions. To stay competitive she has been competing in the Online Live League, becoming one of its weekly champions in July.

While she has landed several big wins against her well-rated fellow competitors, Sherrock has a fair bit to do if she’s to improve on her 2019 PDC World Championships run. In the Space Casino odds for darts, she’s rarely been favoured for the Online Live League matches and can currently be found at odds of 999/1 to win the PDC World Championship.

There hasn’t been a lot of darts competitions over the last year or so. Being quite the extensive inaugural event, the Online Live League offers a good standard of competition for Sherrock to home her skills. More importantly, however, is the PDC Women’s Series 2021, which gets underway on 28 August in Niedernhausen. The 12-event series offers even more opportunities for the Milton Keynes-native to re-establish herself even higher up the rankings, and put the Q School disappointment firmly behind her.

We’ll have to wait and see if Fallon Sherrock can return to the form that landed her a place at the Alexander Palace and in the history books when the PDC Women’s Series gets underway.
