Raymond Smith claimed a shock victory over Michael Smith on day one of the Brisbane Darts Masters with ‘Guru’ showing the promise he showed when he faced Michael van Gerwen last week.

Smith spoke afterwards of his pride of being the first Queenslander to be on the stage in Brisbane and even more so to claim a win.

“For me that’s massive. To be the first Queenslander to walk out on that stage and play as well as I did, I am happy as I can be.

“Michael missed doubles, I got lucky but at the same time I played the darts and put myself in that position. When I got the shot I took it,” concluded Smith after the match.
