The third round is complete at Players Championship 5 with one big result coming out of Robin Park Tennis Centre in Wigan.
That is Michael van Gerwen is out at the hands of Christian Bunse who defeated the world number one in a 6-5 win. The German only averaged 92 which was compared to 102 from Van Gerwen but saw him off in a last leg decider with a 100 checkout.
This was multiple stunning performances in this round to go with that one with Devon Petersen in particular impressing with a 111.8 average against Niels Zonneveld which saw him win 6-3.
Peter Wright continued his brilliant form hitting a 106 average in smashing Scott Mitchell 6-1, while Benito van de Pas produced a surprising 108 average in edging past Jason Lowe 6-3.
Steve Lennon also hit a 110.6 average in defeating Kai Fan Leung 6-1 which also saw a nine-dart finish from the Irishman. The ridiculous standard continues at Players Championship 5.
