Michael Smith and Gabriel Clemens also have won their third group stage match at the Grand Slam of Darts. They secured the top spot in their groups.
Clemens was superb in his match against Richard Veenstra, who also lost his third match this tournament. The Dutchman took the lead after the first leg, but the German hit back with 10-, 11- and 12-dart legs. Clemens averaged a stunning 110.27, while Veenstra hit his highest average (90.26) of the tournament.
Smith booked a hard-fought 5-4 victory over Martin Schindler. The German gave away a 4-2 lead and also missed four match-darts to claim his first points of the tournament. Smith came back to 4-4 and took out double 12 in the leg-decider.
