Phil Taylor has praised Leighton Bennett, the newly crowned BDO World Youth Champion. The 13-year-old defeated his Scottish opponent Nathan Girvan earlier this week in the final at the Lakeside.
Bennett became part of the Target Darts talent project (Elite 1) last year. Taylor is also amongst the stars in the Target stable and he went to Target’s headquarter recently, where he spent a day with some Target’s youth players.
Taylor said on Twitter that he was blown away by their talent. ”The 13-year-old Leighton Bennett was one of the most brilliant young talents I have ever seen.”
A very well deserved World Champion. The youth are the future”, ‘The Power’ concluded. Taylor ended his professional career following losing to Rob Cross in the 2018 PDC World Darts Championship.
