Phil Taylor defeated former apprentice Adrian Lewis 10-7 to remain undefeated in the Champions League of Darts.
Taylor continues to impress on the oche despite his plans for retirement at the end of the season, and overcame a strong start from former 2-time World Champion, and apprentice Lewis. The pair traded the opening 6 legs despite breaking one another to get on the board. Lewis took the next 2 to lead 5-3, and nearly treated the Cardiff crowd to a 9-darter in leg 10. The Stoke Ace throwing 6 perfect darts on the way to his 6th leg.
After the break Taylor continued to throw well, as Lewis dropped off. Allowing the 16-time world champion a chance to get level at 7-7. At 8-7 Lewis had a chance to level up again, gambling for a bullseye on his second dart at 121. Taylor punished the gamble with a 129 on the bull and closed out the final leg with a level 15-darter.
Taylor awaits the winner of the all Dutch clash between van Gerwen and van Barneveld. Lewis will play the loser in a fight to survive.
