In his first night of action in the Remote Darts League saw Justin Thompson claim a clean sweep to go alongside James Richardson and Paul Hogan in doing so in the early running.
Thompson, in an assembled field that included Tony O’Shea and Thibault Tricole, was the outsider before play began but started well against ‘Silverback’ winning 6-3 with a 91 average, and the difference maker 50 percent on his doubles.
He then took on Tricole and despite his average going down slightly to 86, his doubling was again the best part of his game hitting 6/9 compared to 2/8 from ‘The French Touch’.
His final tie was against Lorraine Winstanley and he saved his best for last with a 107.36 average, three 180’s and 6/8 on his doubles; with two ton plus checkouts en route.
‘Thommo’ as a result emerged from Wednesday evening’s proceedings as very much a player to watch going forward in the Remote Darts League.
Tricole was the best of the rest with two wins and one defeat while O’Shea who of course made the play-offs last time didn’t make an expected start winning one and losing two. Lorraine Winstanley is currently second bottom after three defeats.
In the first phase of the Remote Darts League which sees twenty evenings, all participants play against each other once. Four players are involved per night, with each player completing three matches. Matches are best of 10 legs, so a 5-5 draw is possible.
After twenty days of action, the top four in the league will advance to the playoffs, which are scheduled for Monday, June 8.
