Raymond van Barneveld and Rob Cross have most likely booked a spot at the UK Open.
Neither had won any prize money before UK Open Qualifying 4 on Friday in Wigan. But van Barneveld took a massive step toward Minehead. Barney steamrollered Gerwyn Price 6-1 to reach the last 16. The reigning world champion soon followed in his footsteps. Cross checked out 80 to secure a thrilling 6-5 win over Dimitri van den Bergh. Jamie Lewis, the surprise World Championship semi-finalist, overcame Kim Huybrechts by the same scoreline.
Krzysztof Ratajski averaged 98 in a 6-0 whitewash win over Benito van de Pas. The Dutchman, who has started 2018 poorly, averaged a mere 77. Nathan Aspinall continued his fine run, beating Jeff Smith 6-3. Robert Thornton won a last leg decider against James Richardson in last year’s Players Championship Finals, and did so again today.
