Mike Norton reached the last 16 of UK Open Qualifying 6 by beating Adrian Lewis.

Checkouts of 108 and 106 helped Norton to a 6-3 victory over the two-time world champion. David Pallett awaits him in the next round. Top seeds Peter Wright and Rob Cross also secured safe passage to the last 16. A 6-3 win over Brett Claydon should confirm Ted Evetts’ UK Open spot. Daryl Gurney checked out 164 for a 12-darter in a 6-0 rout against Stuart Kellett.

A 12-darter sealed a deciding leg victory for John Goldie against Nathan Aspinall. The Scot will play Michael Smith, who overcame Darren Webster 6-4. Corey Cadby, yesterday’s winner, smashed in finishes of 158 and 104 to beat Prakash Jiwa 6-1. Kim Huybrechts narrowly defeated Simon Whitlock 6-5. The Aussie, needing double 7 for a 122 checkout to win, bust his score. The mistake proved costly, as the Belgian wrapped up the win.
