Raymond van Barneveld is the first player through to the final at the NZ Darts Masters in Hamilton and his third overall in New Zealand.

Van Barneveld defeated James Wade with a 8-5 victory over ‘The Machine’ with a 97.4 average and four 180’s in another impressive performance for the Dutch legend.

His farewell tour will now continue with a potential second consecutive Dutch dust up with Michael van Gerwen on the horizon.

‘Barney’ started brilliantly moving 2-1 up with a break of throw with a 100.5 average and 2/3 on the doubles. From there he pounced on wasted darts from Wade to go 3-1 ahead.

Wade went to 3-2 behind but Van Barneveld restored his two-leg cushion with double 16 for 4-2. ‘Barney’ took out 87 for a 12-darter and a 5-2 advantage following that with another break.

‘The Machine’ responded with a 121 checkout on the bull to break back and trail 5-3 and after Barney missed a 145 checkout, Wade took advantage to go one behind.

Van Barneveld though turned up the afterburners and edged closer with a 6-4 advantage. He cemented this with a brilliant 154 checkout to go one away.

From there, he claimed the victory to move through to continue his return to form as of late.
