Michael van Gerwen has given his greatest game of his career so far and that is his tie against Raymond van Barneveld at the 2017 World Championship.

Known as one of the best matches of all time, Van Gerwen’s tie against ‘Barney’ captured the imagination as two Dutch juggernauts did battle at the Alexandra Palace.

‘Mighty Mike’ said that it was probably the best tournament he has played and that winning against Raymond gave him confidence for the rest of the tournament.

“I felt really good as it was probably the best tournament I have played in my life,” said Van Gerwen to The Darts Show Podcast. “It was really important for me to play well against Raymond and I had to otherwise I would have lost that game.”

“It was nice to beat Raymond, I still hadn’t won anything after that, but it gave me confidence for the tournament, and I played well afterwards too.”
