Michael van Gerwen didn’t have the best weekend at the UK Open. In his first game he lost to Jeffrey de Zwaan but ‘Mighty Mike’ wants to look forward to tonight’s clash with Simon Whitlock.

Van Gerwen admits that it was disappointing to not only lose that but to not play in Exeter; but he says it’s a new day and he’s looking forward to playing the Wizard.

He has also said he will not be taking him lightly as Whitlock is playing well so he will have to make sure he is ready.

“It was disappointing that we couldn’t play in Exeter and then I lost to Jeffrey in the UK Open, but this is a new day and I’m looking forward to playing Simon,” said Van Gerwen.
“He won his first three matches and he’s playing well, so I know what I’ve got to do on Thursday. I’ll prepare myself and make sure I’m ready for Simon.”
