Michael van Gerwen is through to his second consecutive World Series where he is set for a double Dutch dust-up with Raymond van Barneveld for the second year in a row.
Van Gerwen saw off Rob Cross with ease in an 8-3 win to continue his return to form at the NZ Darts Masters and now he will be favourite for another title.
‘Mighty Mike’ sprinted into a 3-1 lead over Cross averaging 106 in the early going with his doubling statistic matching this with 3/5.
Cross closed the gap though with a 60 checkout to go 3-2 behind the World Number One. He missed darts for parity though allowing Van Gerwen to go into the interval having broke his throw 4-2 ahead.
Van Gerwen continued that when they returned to the foray going 5-2 up with a 14-darter. Cross made it consecutive breaks of throw though as he went 6-3 behind.
Despite that though, MVG hit back with a 118 checkout to go one away and he made no mistake moving through to the final.
