Michael van Gerwen has shown he is still the player to watch in the darting sphere. The World Number 1 has Mensur Suljovic next on his radar in Exeter tonight.

Van Gerwen will then head down the road to Minehead to try and reclaim one of only a few PDC titles he doesn’t currently hold, the UK Open.

‘Mighty Mike’ has said that he can send out a message to the chasing pack ahead of a potential ‘good weekend’ for the imperious Dutchman.

“I’m trying to get to the top of the table as soon as possible and the game on Thursday gives me a chance to make another step towards that,” said Van Gerwen.

“I have been happy with some of my performances but not all and I know I will have to produce a good one against Mensur as he played very well last week.

“It could be the start of a very good weekend for me with the UK Open just around the corner and I can send out a message with a very good performance and win in Exeter.”
