James Wade is the first player through to the Semi-Finals of the NZ Darts Masters after victory over a below-par Peter Wright.

He ended up winning 8-4 with a 93 average and barring late pressure, probably could have won a lot easier.

Wade started poorly but claimed a 24 dart break of throw but with Wright averaging only 78, he helped himself to a 3-0 lead and broke again.

He broke for a third time offering Wright no way back in with double 18 to go 5-0 up.

Wright though started his comeback in style smashing in a 139 checkout to break throw and trail 5-1. He followed that up with another ton plus in the form of a 120.

Wade though was clinical and hit a 104 checkout to move back in front at 6-2. Wright though held his throw to show that the comeback was very much still on.

Despite that though, he had too much of a mountain to climb and Wade went one away and from there he claimed the victory to move through in Hamilton.
