The Quarter-Final line-up has been confirmed at the Danish Darts Open with Dave Chisnall set to take on Jermaine Wattimena after both players came through tough examinations.
Chisnall first of all came through a last leg decider against Mensur Suljovic in which he had to survive two match darts in the deciding leg to knock out the defending champion.
It was a thrilling tie; with a 98.6 average and four 180’s from the St Helens ace being enough to progress.
It could have been a lot easier for Chisnall as he surged into a 3-0 lead with a 145 checkout the highlight and he had his average up towards the 115 mark.
Despite that though Suljovic claimed a break and three legs on the spin to make it back to parity at 3-3. Chisnall though always kept just ahead of him going 5-4 up; before the decider which he will be relieved to get through.
Wattimena claimed a big scalp in seeing off Ian White who up to this point was a back-to-back champion on the European Tour and was on an 11 match unbeaten run.
‘Machine Gun’ who was excellent at the World Cup of Darts continued that rich vein of form to throw the tournament wide open of sorts. He did so with style as well; smashing in a 137 checkout where he went T19, D20, D20 for the win.
