The winners have been crowned at the BDO World Trophy with Jim Williams and Lisa Ashton claiming victory at the King George’s Hall in Blackburn.

Williams is a BDO major winner for the first time after seeing off Richard Veenstra in a closely run final and he has finally lived up to his promise and his form coming into the tournament.

It was an 8-6 victory for ‘The Quiff’ with an 85 average. With this form; he will be one of the favourites to win the World Masters and later on in the year the World Championship and who could bet against him.

The same can be said for Lisa Ashton in the ladies draw. It was a 6-2 victory for ‘The Lancashire Rose’; who firmly established her status as the number one player right now as a result.

It is a third time that she has won the BDO World Trophy; she did it in style reeling off six legs on the spin from 2-0 down to defeat Anastasia Dobromyslova.

Both players (Williams and Ashton) came into this weekend as favourites; both left as the winners showing the dominance of the duo in the men’s and ladies BDO Tour right now.
