Peter Wright is through to the semi-finals handing out a whitewash win to Dave Chisnall to set up a tie with World Cup teammate Gary Anderson.
Wright wasn’t exceptional but Chisnall was really out of sorts averaging just 79 in succumbing to a 10-0 defeat.
‘Snakebite’ was in cruise control to begin the tie with Chisnall’s poor form on show throughout the contest and he went into the interval 5-0 up with his first 180 and an 11-darter with a 101 average and looked good in the process.
Chisnall’s run without a double saw him only have one dart at double in six legs and Wright pounced all over it hitting an 87 checkout for a 12-darter and a 6-0 lead.
Another break was en route when Chisnall made a poor job on the finishing and Wright went 8-0 up as the St Helens ace looked to pull something out of the bag.
This wasn’t forthcoming with Wright pinning a 120 to go one away and this was achieved as the World Champion’s quest for back to back titles continues.
