Peter Wright was on the losing end to Michael van Gerwen once again yesterday in Munich as he lost in consecutive weeks to the World Number One after losing out in Leverkusen last weekend.
This time it was by a bigger margin with the World Number Two going down 8-5 compared to their last leg thriller in Leverkusen. Wright lauded himself as a great runner up after this.
He also said that a few years ago Van Gerwen said he would be in the position he is behind him and he was correct ending it off by jokingly saying he hated the World Number One.
This represents progress though for ‘Snakebite’ who has battled back after a dip in form in the Premier League by putting it right in the Euro Tour, tournaments that he is known to love playing.
“I’m a great runner-up!” joked Wright. “[Michael] said to me a couple of years ago that I would be number two in the world and he would be number one. He was correct – I hate him!”
