Jelle Klaasen wins close match with Alan Norris and Steve Hine dumps out Peter Wright

Jelle Klaasen defeated Alan Norris in a really close fought encounter on Board 2 between two of the best players in World Darts. Norris averaged 102 but was downed by 'The Cobra' 6-4 who averaged 100 in a game that could of graced the main stage at any other tournament.
On the main stage, Steve Hine caused probably the shock of the evening by knocking out Peter Wright. The experienced 'Muffin Man' returned to a major stage for the first time in a few years and made a winning return. Wright missed the bull to win in a decider and Hine punished to set up a round 2 clash with Peter Jacques tomorrow.
Returning to Board 2, another shock occured. Ron 'The Bomb' Meulenkamp sent Kyle Anderson packing in a 6-4 victory. A 91 average from Meulenkamp and hit 2 180's compared to Anderson who hit a 93 average as well as a 170 checkout but it was 'The Bomb' who makes it through.
Another one followed that on the same board with Jan Dekker defeating Michael Smith. The former 'Mr Coat' hit 60% on his doubles and defied a 170 checkout to seal passage through to the next round with a 6-3 victory over the 'Bully Boy'. This reflected in the averages with 97 for Dekker compared to 90 for Smith.
