Dekker and Scholten partly agree with Van Gerwen's assessment of White defeat: ''He used to throw higher averages"

Michael van Gerwen went out against Ian White in the second round of the European Championship but afterwards, there was a lot of commotion about an interview he gave to RTL reporter Arjan van der Giessen.

Van Gerwen was not satisfied with the critical questions who he accused of wanting to score points with the viewers.

"Basically Michael was right that he played a good game. If you score 102 on average and hit 31% of your doubles, you normally win almost all games. Michael was just unlucky that White threw a great game. On the other hand, you can see that. he used to throw even higher averages, the other players will of course also notice that ", according to RTL analyst and player Jan Dekker.

Also Roland Scholten was present at the RTL studio in his Van Gerwen must work even harder in the future. "He was always the best, but at the moment that's not the case anymore. However, I think that will give him a boost and that he will want to prove to everyone what he is still capable of."
