First ever Filipino Tour Card holder finally gets his sports visa after a year

Christian Perez shocked last year by winning a PDC Tour Card at Q-School. But the lack of a sports visa, ensured he was only allowed to compete during two Players Championship tournaments in Germany.

This year, Perez will be able to compete in Pro Tour tournaments in the United Kingdom, according to the Philippine Darts Federation. After completing the required tests and documents, the 42-year-old Filipino received his so-called UK Sportsperson Visa on Feb. 2.

His work visa is sponsored by the Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) while all other costs are borne by his management. “We didn’t expect the visa application process to be this tedious and take this long, but with prayers, patience, and the support of the DRA and Robson Sportscraft, we were able to pull through and secure a Sportsperson Visa,'' Perez announced.

Perez will travel to the United Kingdom on Thursday, Feb. 8, for the first Pro Tour tournaments. The first two Players Championship tournaments will take place Feb. 12 and 13 in Wigan.
