Glorious Gary Anderson sparkles in Sindelfingen to take first Euro Tour title in a decade

Gary Anderson has crowned himself the winner of the European Darts Grand Prix. 'The Flying Scotsman' won a Euro Tour title for the second time in his career, as well as his first since 2014.

The two-time world champion immediately showed good form at this tournament on Saturday. With an average of 110.23, he defeated Christian Perez (6-3), before also overcoming Gerwyn Price (6-4). After that, Anderson survived crackers against Josh Rock (6-5) and Rob Cross (7-5).

At the other end of the bracket, Ross Smith surprisingly managed to reach the final. He defeated Luke Woodhouse (6-2), Ritchie Edhouse (6-5) and Damon Heta (6-5) before surviving three matchdarts against Michael van Gerwen in the semifinals.

In the final, Smith took an early 2-0 lead, but a 72 finish brought Anderson back to 2-2. After that, the legs went with the darts for a long time. Smith had a chance to break Anderson in the twelfth leg, but he missed the double 16 for a 7-5 lead.

It became 6-6 after Anderson managed to find the double 6 for a 19-darter, before Anderson did post a break of his own with a stunning 12-darter. The Scot then got to throw for the match, but was only 178 after six visits. Smith, however, fumbled heavily on the doubles and squandered seven chances to force a final leg. With a 24-darter, Anderson then managed to secure the title after all.
