"I haven't played a single really good game against him" - Michael van Gerwen disappointed with another defeat to Luke Littler

Michael van Gerwen failed to bring his opening match to a successful conclusion on Night 10 of Premier League Darts 2024. The 34-year-old Dutchman went down 6-3 against Luke Littler in the quarterfinals.

Van Gerwen threw a 91.76 average versus Littler's 93.15. "It was a very bad match from both of us," Van Gerwen opened to Viaplay. "The feeling was definitely not right with me. But actually I haven't played a single really good game against him. With Luke it is often all or nothing against me as well, either he throws insanely well or he reaches such a level as he did today."

"I'm not in the best phase of my career at the moment and when you can still win matches like that it gives you the confidence you need," Van Gerwen continued. "So it's quite unfortunate that it didn't work out tonight. I just have to take this defeat on the chin."

In the Premier League Darts standings, Van Gerwen is now fourth, still two points ahead of number five Michael Smith. The top four after 16 days of play qualify for the playoffs.
