Jim Williams wins all nine legs to whitewash Norman Madhoo at the World Darts Championships and set up Peter Wright tie in round two

Jim Williams has continued his run of always having won his first round game at the Alexandra Palace, comfortably dispatching Norman Madhoo and despite not being at his best, winning all nine legs.

Second up on this Sunday afternoon, former Lakeside finalist Jim Williams quickly got himself ahead. Taking a clean sweep of the opening set, the Welshman cruised to a 1-0 in no time at all.

After Madhoo missed seven darts for the opening leg of set 2, Williams punished to make it four legs on the bounce for the Welshman. A solid 16-dart break of throw followed for Williams and completing the set on double 8 it was 2-0.

Despite Williams having an absolute disaster on 68 in the opening leg of set 3, miscounting and busting on double top, he did eventually take the leg, his seventh in a row. Double 16 sent him one leg away from the win and a few moments later he took his ninth straight leg and booked his place in round 2 versus Peter Wright.
