Josh Rock survives Michael Smith comeback before Gary Anderson sees off Gerwyn Price in European Darts Grand Prix thriller

Josh Rock and Gary Anderson have become the first two men to secure their position in the quarter-finals at the 2024 European Darts Grand Prix in Sindelfingen.

In a thrilling opening tie of the session, Rock raced into an early lead against Michael Smith. After the Northern Irishman went 4-0 clear though, Smith rallied and then reeled off the next five legs himself to move 5-4 ahead and just one away from the win. With 'Bully Boy' waiting on 81 for the match, Rock checked out a sensational 170 finish to grasp the momentum back and force a decider. In the deciding leg, it was Rock who took it, breaking throw with a 12-dart-leg for the 6-5 win.

Next up was another blockbuster tie between Gerwyn Price and Gary Anderson. Again, one player flew out of the blocks too, this time it was Anderson who fired into a 4-0 lead early on. Price fought back though, taking the next three legs, including one with a brilliant 124 finish.

Although Price managed to get back to 4-5, the Welshman couldn't send the match into a deciding leg as Anderson secured his spot in the quarter-finals on double top for the 6-4 victory.
