Luke Humphries dumps 'Cake by the Ocean' as walk-on song with change incoming

Luke Humphries will soon no longer be using the song 'Cake by the Ocean' by American band DNCE as a walk-on song. 'Cool Hand Luke' has announced a change.

The song is not found catchy enough by audience members, who are more used to singing along to tunes like "Shut Up and Dance" when Michael Smith enters or "Mr. Brightside" for Nathan Aspinall.

Last weekend, Humphries was in action at the European Darts Grand Prix. He defeated Luke Littler in his first match 6-5, before 'Cool Hand Luke' also won 6-5 over Stephen Bunting. After his match against Bunting, Humphries mentioned in his interview that he will soon use a new walk-on song.

“This is going to be the last time that Cake by the Ocean is ever performed in European Tour history,” Humphries told master of ceremonies Philip Brzezinski on stage. “It is going to be changed from Leeds Premier League so….as much as it’s not the best song in the world I do enjoy it so hopefully I can give it the send off it deserves, hopefully over the next three games.”

Thus, at the Liverpool (April 25) and Aberdeen (May 2) rounds of play, Humphries will still use 'Cake by the Ocean' as his song. The Kaiser Chiefs' song 'I Predict a Riot' is being tipped as a possible new song for Humphries. The reigning world champion is known to be a big Leeds United fan and that song is inextricably linked to Leeds United soccer club because the Kaiser Chiefs' band members are from Leeds.
