Van Barneveld recalls being offered a muffin by Hine at PDC World Darts Championship: "I immediately thought, 'what's in there', maybe I'll fall asleep"

Raymond van Barneveld was recently a guest on the podcast 'The Big Fish'. There, he raked up a funny anecdote from a World Cup match in 2011.

Van Barneveld then faced Steve Hine, nicknamed The Muffin Man because he kept entering the stage with a platter full of muffins, in the opening round of the PDC World Cup. "He asked me beforehand if I wanted a muffin. But I didn't quite trust it anyway," said Barney.

"I immediately thought, 'what's in there', maybe something I'll fall half asleep from on stage," Van Barneveld continued. "That's why I thought, don't do it anyway (laughs)."

Quarter-Finals

Van Barneveld incidentally won the game 3-1 and would reach the World Darts Championship quarter-finals that year, where he went down 5-1 to Gary Anderson.
