Vincent van der Voort and Mervyn King to miss PDC World Darts Championship for first time in 17 years

Vincent van der Voort and Mervyn King both failed to grasp their final straw at the last-chance qualifying tournament for the PDC World Darts Championships.

Both players failed to qualify for the World Darts Championship via the Pro Tour and therefore had to seek refuge at the Tour Card qualifier. In this qualifier, however, their hopes of participating in Alexandra Palace could be dashed after just one match. Van der Voort lost in his first match to Jeffrey Sparidaans (6-2), while King went down against Pascal Rupprecht (6-5).

Van der Voort and King made the switch from the BDO to the PDC in 2007 and have always managed to secure placement for the World Darts Championship since then. The Dutchman made it to the quarterfinals at the 2011 and 2015 editions at Alexandra Palace. King was even a semifinalist in 2009 and made it to the quarterfinals two years ago.
